Together with Peerdrops and Blijdorp, we created an immersive experience where nature, technology, and storytelling merge into one magical whole.
Transforming the Oceanium into a North Sea theme
Most people know that wind turbines generate green energy. But what actually happens underwater when a wind farm is built in the North Sea? To tell that story, Blijdorp decided to completely renew part of its iconic Oceanium. The challenge: transform an existing space into a brand-new North Sea theme and make visitors truly feel like they’re stepping beneath the surface.
Innovative technology bringing the North Sea to life
Livingprojects brought Blijdorp’s storyline and Peerdrops’ creative concept to life with a unique combination of light, visuals, sound, scent, and interactivity.
- Light & projection: Hundreds of meters of dynamic LED lighting, laser projectors, and custom visuals immerse visitors in a continuously moving underwater world.
- Interactivity: Touchscreens, interactive buttons, and live underwater footage make visitors part of the story.
- Sound & scent: A crystal-clear audio system, scent machines, and even wind effects stimulate all the senses.
All systems are smartly integrated through advanced lighting and media control, ensuring flexibility and a future-proof setup.
